OnePlus 12 made its official debut back in December of last year. So far, it stayed exclusive to the Chinese market. Now, the company has brought its latest flagship to the international markets.
While the past releases of OnePlus were mostly a hit or miss, the company made some good decisions with the OnePlus 12. It’s not just about performance; the latest flagship also comes with a capable camera setup. The phone even has many advanced camera optimizations, which makes it enjoy a significant leap in camera performance when compared to its predecessors.
Powerful Hardware of the OnePlus 12
One of the main highlights of the OnePlus 12 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It’s the latest flagship SoC from Qualcomm, which offers a sizeable jump from the 8 Gen 2. With optimizations, OnePlus says that the phone can offer up to 30% improvement in terms of CPU performance.
As for the GPU, the OnePlus 12 can offer up to 25% enhancement when compared to its predecessor. To ensure that the SoC can power through anything you throw at it, OnePlus paired the 8 Gen 3 with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X on the international variant of the phone.
While the Chinese version offered up to 24 GB of RAM, 16 GB is more than good enough for most demanding tasks. The international variant of the OnePlus 12 has also seen a reduction in the storage department. It maxes out at 512 GB, while the Chinese variant tops out at 1 TB.
Again, 512 GB is good enough for storing a good number of large-sized files. Also, let’s not forget to mention that the OnePlus 12 utilizes UFS 4.0 storage. It ensures a fast transfer rate, translating to faster app load times and a better UI experience.
Advance Cooling System for a Stable Performance
The OnePlus 12 brings an industry-leading cooling setup. OnePlus calls it the Dual Cryo-velocity VC Cooling System. It features a 3D capillary dissipation and a large surface area of 9140 square mm. The company has crafted it through an unibody die-casting manufacturing process.
This large-sized VC cooling setup of the OnePlus 12 can offer consistent heat absorption. In other words, this robust cooling system will make sure that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 inside can deliver a stable performance. Also, you can expect the phone to not overheat while doing resource-intensive tasks such as gaming.
A Big Upgrade On the Camera Performance
As mentioned earlier, the OnePlus 12 makes a big push in the camera department. On the back, it features Sony’s latest LYT-808 sensor as the primary camera. It’s a 50 MP sensor that utilizes dual-stacking technology. This camera is paired with a 64 MP periscope sensor. It can offer 3x zoom without much loss of details on the captures.

The last sensor on the back is a 114-degree FOV ultra-wide sensor. But it’s not just the flagship sensors that make the OnePlus 12 perform great in imaging. The company has also integrated the latest HDR algorithm. Unlike the average algorithms, it understands what you’re trying to capture.
Moreover, the OnePlus 12 has a Master Mode, which brings a lot of advanced settings. With these, you can capture stunning images that will be full of details. Also, the smartphone has Hasselblad Portrait Mode and supports 4K Dolby Vision Video.
On the front, the latest OnePlus flagship integrates the Sony IMX615. It’s a 32 MP camera that has a sensor size of 1/2.74-inch and a pixel size of 0.8 μm. There’s EIS and Autofocus for smooth video capture.
Display of the OnePlus 12
In terms of the display, the OnePlus 12 has a new 2K ProXDR panel. As the company says, it’s the brightest display to be on a smartphone. And OnePlus has numbers to prove it. The screen has a peak brightness rating of 4500 NITS, which is reasonably high when compared to the other high-end flagships.
Besides being bright, the screen of the OnePlus focuses on offering an immersive viewing experience. It comes with a screen-to-body ratio of 93.5%, which means there are very narrow bezels on the front. With LTPO technology, the screen also offers smooth motions. There’s support for the Dolby Vision and PWM dimming of 2160 Hz.
Battery and Other Details
The OnePlus 12 packs a large-sized 5400 mAh battery, which can charge at 100 watts. It also has wireless charging support at 50 watts and reverse wireless at 10 watts. The other highlights of the smartphone include an IP65 rating, Bluetooth 5.4, WiFi 7, and a USB 3.2 Type-C connector.
