Paired with better processing power, they can properly detect the subjects within the photos and create a better depth effect.
The Galaxy S24 phones also apply a blur effect on the objects that are in front of the main subject. This additional blur effect makes the portrait shots look like they were captured with a DSLR camera. Previous algorithms only applied this blur effect to the objects that were behind the subject.
