Popular YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, also known as Mr. Beast, revealed on Monday that his first full-length video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, earned him $263,655. This significant amount likely stands as one of the largest payouts on the platform, which introduced revenue share payments for creators in the past year.
Jimmy Donaldson, also known as Mr. Beast, tried something new by posting his first video on X (formerly Twitter) last week to see how much money he could make from ads on the platform. On Monday, he shared that he made $263,655 from the post. However, he mentioned that this amount might not be entirely accurate because several advertisers paid for ads on the video.
Mr. Beast’s First Video on X
In the video, Mr. Beast and his friends were seen crashing and driving cars with prices ranging from $1 to $100 million. This video is a repost from one he shared on YouTube four months ago.
The X video got over 150 million views, which is about 60 million fewer than it received on YouTube. It’s important to know that a view on X doesn’t mean people watched the entire video. Views are counted each time someone simply sees it on profiles, through search, or on their homepage.
After sharing the results of his video experiment on X, Donaldson made another post stating that he would give $10,000 from the earnings of the video to 10 random people who follow him and retweet the post. As of now, there has been no response from X to Forbes’ request for comment.
Gizchina News of the week
According to Forbes, Donaldson earned around $82 million in the year leading up to June 2023. This amount made him top the list of highest-earning creators. Donaldson has a massive following on YouTube, with 232 million subscribers. It also makes him the second-most subscribed creator on the platform, as reported by Social Blade.
Revenue Share on X
Not every creator experiences payouts as significant as Donaldson’s. This is because revenue share payments depend on factors like audience size and impressions. For instance, Roberto Blake, a YouTuber with 608,000 subscribers focusing on brand development, shared that he received a $307 payout from X in August. He mentioned that spending $8 on X Premium to earn $307 was a “fantastic ROI for something I do anyway.” However, Blake suggested that X’s revenue share program could benefit from enhancements. The company could enhance it in areas such as analytics and the types of ads displayed alongside his content.
X introduced revenue share payments to creators in July. This led to commentators, meme pages, influencers, and others reporting payouts in the tens of thousands of dollars. It’s important to note that the initial payments included back pay from when revenue share payments were first announced in February. X CEO Linda Yaccarino mentioned in a post in September that the platform had distributed nearly $20 million to creators. According to X’s creator policies, creators can receive up to 97% of the revenue X earns from their content until they reach $50,000 in lifetime earnings. After that the revenue share reduces to 90% which is still a fair deal.
When crashing luxury cars makes more money than studying or saving lives, it means it’s time for humanity to kill itself.
