You may already know that smartphones come with lithium-ion batteries. In below-freezing temperatures, the chemical reactions inside these cells slow down. This slowdown increases internal resistance. The increase of internal resistance can be so high that the batteries can lose up to half the capacity. But the case with the Honor Magic 6 Pro seems to be different.
The Magic 6 Pro has gone through an extreme battery test. It got into a freezer in a lab with a temperature below the freezing point, which is at -20 degrees Celcius. The phone showcased strong resilience against extreme temperatures. This displays the strengths of the new battery tech from Honor.
A Closer Look into the Extreme Battery Test That Honor Magic 6 Pro Went Through
The Honor Magic 6 Pro comes with flagship-grade specs. Among them is the large 5600 mAh. This battery capacity is much higher than the competition. For example, the super-premium Galaxy S24 Ultra features a 5000 mAh battery. Also, the recently released OnePlus 12 has a 5400 mAh battery.
But it’s not only the battery capacity in which the Magic 6 Pro shines. Also, Honor packed class-leading battery tech. For starters, the device comes with the new E1 chipset. It’s a dedicated power management chip that can recognize low-temperature environments.

When it does, the E1 chipset makes the battery adapt to the environment. It also adjusts the discharge behavior. That’s why the Magic 6 Pro has more than 75% battery capacity after staying 4 hours. This is very impressive for a phone in below-freezing temperatures.
Another big battery aspect of the Honor Magic 6 Pro is that it comes with a new battery chemistry. Unlike the regular lithium-ion battery, it utilizes silicon carbon. But it does have a graphite base, which makes sure that the silicon doesn’t expand.
All this, plus many other enhancements, made the Honor Magic 6 Pro last for 13 hours and 07 minutes. Yes, more than 13 hours in a below-freezing temperature! I have attached the test video above for you to check out.
