Huawei was one of the pioneers in the market of foldable smartphones with the Huawei Mate X. Nowadays, there are multiple competitors for many brands joining the foldable segment. Therefore, the Chinese brand wants to keep its presence established in this particular segment. Last year, Huawei introduced two horizontal foldables, the Huawei Mate X3 and the Huawei Mate X5. It has been a while since the company launched a vertical foldable, with the Huawei Pocket S from 2022, being the last one. This will change soon as the company is gearing up to introduce the Huawei Pocket 2. Today, the flip smartphone’s design was revealed through a series of leaked renders from trustworthy Fixed Focus Digital.
Huawei Pocket 2 Has Key Design Elements Revealed by Renders
The Huawei Pocket 2 Appears in three color options: Plain Black, Dark Purple with a Leather Texture, and Rococo White with a marble look. The device has some similarities with its predecessors. For example, it will have two circles on the back. The first is the camera island while the second is the cover display. The Huawei P50 Pocket and the Pocket S had a 1.04-inch circular OLED screen with 340 x 340 pixels of resolution.
Gizchina News of the week
When it comes to the first circle, it will house the camera modules. There are three lenses, but the exact configuration of the Pocket 2 remains unclear. When it comes to its predecessors, the P50 Pocket and Pocket S had a 40 MP main camera and 13 MP ultra-wide lenses. The P50 also had a third 32 MP module that worked in the ultraviolet spectrum. It was used for the Sunscreen Test feature. We expect Huawei to bring upgrades to the Huawei Pocket 2.
The Huawei Pocket 2 is expected to launch along with the upcoming Huawei P70 series. Judging by the fact that the P60 series arrived in March last year, we shouldn’t be too far from the P70 series release. Just like the Huawei P70 series, the Pocket 2 should include the latest Kirin 9000 series chip as well as HarmonyOS NEXT straight out of the box.
We expect Huawei to share teasers and confirm more details in the coming weeks.
