Ever since Nothing officially confirmed that the company is working on the Nothing Phone (2a), there have been multiple rumors revolving around the device. One of them suggested that it would be unveiled at the upcoming MWC event, which is scheduled for February 26.
Even though that rumor seemed legit as many brands launch new products at MWC, it turned out to be false. Nothing has just confirmed that the Phone (2a) will be announced on March 5, which is after MWC ends. It seems the brand wanted a separate event for the announcement.
What To Expect from Nothing Phone (2a)
Nothing hasn’t offered much information on the Nothing Phone (2a). However, the brand did give us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming device. For starters, it will be less costly than the Nothing Phone (2), which is why the smartphone has “a” in its name.
Looking back, Nothing launched the Phone (2) with a starting price of $599, while the Phone (1) debuted at $480. The brand confirmed that Phone (2a) would be a middle point between Phone (2) and Phone (1).

You can also guess the processing power from the statement Nothing. That is, it will also be the middle of the road between Phone (2) and Phone (1). Again, if you look back, the Phone (1) came with the Snapdragon 778, while the Phone (2) debuted with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
We’ve been hearing news about Nothing partnering with MediaTek. If that turns out true, the Nothing Phone (2a) will likely come with Dimensity 7200. It’s a great mid-range chip. As for the design, a recent hands-on image of the device hinted that it would have a similar look to the Phone (2). But on the back, the picture showed that the dual camera setup is in the middle.
We don’t know for sure whether the picture was of a prototype or an actual production unit. You can check it out from the picture attached above. But again, all this will be confirmed soon as the Nothing Phone (2a) is confirmed to be announced less than a month from now.
