The PlayStation 5 was first released in November 2020. Last year, Sony launched an improved design model which is referred to as the PlayStation 5 Slim. However, the slim model did not have any hardware improvements. Hence, the fans are curious about whether the tech giant will launch an updated console. Since the last generation got a Pro model (the PS4 Pro), there is a high chance we will see the PlayStation 5 Pro as well. Currently, the hype for PS5 Pro is high as numerous rumors have been circulating online. The latest one has captured a good amount of interest with the new technology named PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).
According to the latest report by InsiderGaming, the unannounced PlayStation 5 Pro will utilize Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). This is a brand-new technology, and it might be the ultimate highlight of the console. The PSSR technology will be used to upscale to higher resolutions.

PSSR Can Be a Game-Changer
According to the report, the current PSSR supports a resolution of 3840×2160 and aims for 4K 60 FPS and 8K 30FPS. However, the spicy news is that Sony is internally aiming to make the PSSR technology achieve even further resolutions.
The goal with the PSSR is to achieve 4K 120FPS and 8K 60FPS. However, achieving this may be challenging for the PS5 Pro due to hardware limitations. Still, the important news is that the company is planning to achieve these high resolutions. These ambitious goals suggest that achieving 4K 120FPS and 8K 60FPS may be feasible in future consoles, possibly in the PlayStation 6.
That said, the PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) seems like a technology that will surely be a major game changer for the coming consoles. Sony fans are expecting to see PS5 Pro sometime this year or at least before GTA 6 so they can enjoy the game with a higher resolution.
