Earlier in February, there was a report by Bloomberg suggesting that Rockstar Games is asking the employees to return to the office five days a week. The reasons for on-site work implementation were said to be productivity and security issues. However, the new report suggests that the reason possibly is the fact that development on GTA 6 has started “falling behind.” This was suggested to Kotaku by an anonymous source. Moreover, it is stated that because of this, Rockstar’s leadership is nervous and concerned about the possibility of missing the 2025 release year. The source also reveals that Rockstar is still aiming to launch the game in Spring 2025, but if there is still some development needed, then ultimately the game will be skipped to 2026.
If GTA 6 is delayed, it will be very sad. But I would prefer a polished product instead of a broken one. There is a huge hype for GTA 6 in the gaming community, and Rockstar has the responsibility to deliver it. Hence, if they believe that delaying the game to enhance its quality is necessary, they should take this step and ensure its proper completion. Well, for now, all of this is unofficial news.
