With the Google I/O conference drawing near, the upcoming Google Pixel 8a has been leaking quite often in the past weeks. The new affordable Pixel smartphone is expected for the Developer Conference, however, chances are that we will know all its details ahead of the event. Recently, the phone had its specs revealed, and even Google itself has shown a Pixel 8a in an ad for its carrier in the US. Now, a new set of live images leaked, showing both the back and the front of the Obsidian color option.
Google Pixel 8a appears with large bezels and rounded edges
The Pixel 8a keeps the series’ signature design with a camera “visor” that goes from one side of the frame to the other. It serves as a house for two sensors and a circular LED flash array. The phone has minimal G branding, and not much else.

One interesting fact is that the images show large bezels all around the Pixel 8a’s screen. The chin is quite large, and that’s a common issue in some budget smartphones. The problem is that the Google Pixel 8a won’t be as cheap as the basic smartphones. In any case, Google will likely get away with the design because users will still praise their software and the camera quality. A fun fact is that the bezels show an upgrade over the Pixel 7a display.
The Pixel 8a also has more rounded bezels when compared to the Pixel 7a. Under the hood, the phone is expected to come with a Google Tensor G3 chipset. It will boast a 6.1-inch 120 Hz OLED screen, 128GB/256GB of Internal Storage, and a 64 MP main camera with OIS. There will also be a secondary 13 MP Ultrawide and a 13 MP selfie shooter. It will draw power from a 4,500 mAh battery with 27W wired charging. The phone will ship with Android 14 straight out of the box.
Considering the pace of leaks, we expect more details to surface in the coming days.
