Samsung Teases “New Premium Smartwatches” and New Form Factors


Samsung is doing well in its business and reported a huge increase in profits for Q1 2024. The Samsung Galaxy S24 series’s strong sales’ helped the company to achieve its goals and delivered great numbers to the company’s report. Interestingly, the company’s press release also brought interesting news for fans of its wearable tech. The company will soon be making changes to its wearable range.

Samsung mentioned the introduction of new form factors for wearable tech. The Galaxy Ring is a good example. The company is also rumored to launch new form factors for smartwatches, and the rumors point to the launch of its first rectangular watch.

New Premium Smartwatches coming with the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 series

When it comes to smartwatches, the company writes that it will “strive to meet the demand for upgrades through the launch of new premium models”. The new device may be even more premium than the upcoming Galaxy Watch7 Classic. After all, unofficial reports are pointing to the launch of a new Galaxy Watch7 Pro model. It could be a step up from the Classic series.

As you may know, Samsung has multiple branches and different ranges. The company’s System LSI will focus on “preparing to ship products based on advanced technologies for new wearables”.

Galaxy Ring Premium Smartwatches from Samsung

The upcoming Galaxy Watch7 will reportedly have an SoC that is 50% more power efficient than its predecessor, the Exynos W390. This may be the first 3nm wearable chip, which means that the extra efficiency will be paired with higher performance. The new watch series is rumored to finally include a blood sugar monitoring feature. That feature could be exclusive to the high-end model. It is worth noting that such ability has been in the rumor mill for years. However, it is yet to debut in a Samsung smartwatch. It could be a revolutionary addition to smartwatches, it will further establish these devices as health companions.

Samsung reports that the “development of advanced 3nm and 2nm technologies is progressing smoothly”. The Galaxy Ring and the Galaxy Watch7 series will be unveiled in early July. We have a couple of months of waiting. We expect some details to appear ahead of the release.
