The Meizu 21 Note has made its official debut in China. While it does belong to the latest smartphone series of the company, the new smartphone comes with a last-gen SoC. More specifically, it packs Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the predecessor of the latest 8 Gen 3.
But the good part is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is still a great performer. After all, it was the last-gen flagship. And thanks to this last-gen flagship SoC, the Meizu 21 Note could keep the price down. The new Android smartphone starts at CNY 2,599 (around $360). To compare, the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 device that you can get right now, the Realme GT 5 Pro, will cost you about $500.
A Closer Look At the Meizu 21 Note
While the Meizu 21 Note doesn’t come with a high-end price tag, it does have high-end specs. Besides the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the smartphone has a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED screen on the front. This display features an FHD+ resolution, has up to 144 Hz refresh rate, and is rated for 5000 nits of peak brightness.

The front of the 21 Note also has a 16 MP front-facing camera and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which is embedded under the display. On the back, the smartphone features a 50 MP primary sensor that’s 1/1.56-inch in size and has an f/1.7 aperture. It also has OIS, which ensures stable videos and photos. For the secondary camera on the back, it has a 13 MP ultrawide.
As for the software, the Meizu 21 Note runs on Flyme AIOS. As the name kind of gives it away, this Android skin comes with generative AI capabilities. You have circle to search, voice transcription, document summaries, and many other fancy features. The AI assistant can also do call screening and book appointments for you.
Other highlights of the Meizu 21 Note include a large 5500 mAh battery, 65W fast charging support, and an IP65 rating. Overall, it seems to be a solid flagship device that won’t break the bank.
