Motorola revealed the Moto G84 in August last year and is gearing up to introduce the Moto G85. Judging by the fact that the phone is appearing in leaks at this point of the year, we can expect it to launch earlier when compared to its predecessor. The Moto G85 appeared in a European retailer’s database earlier this month. The device had its price set at €300. Now, a prototype has run the Geekbench benchmark, which confirms some interesting details about the phone.
Moto G85 Appears in Geekbench with unreleased Snapdragon 4 Gen 3
The Moto G85 spotted in Geekbench carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 SoC. This is interesting because the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 hasn’t been officially announced yet, and we know it may soon succeed the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. The Geb 2 was the first in the series to use a 4nm manufacturing process. We believe the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 will keep this manufacturing design.
Gizchina News of the week
The smartphone scored 939 points in the Single-Core department. When it comes to the multi-core score, the phone achieved 2,092 points. That’s the usual for the low-end and mid-range categories. That said, we don’t expect a major overhaul in performance for the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3. The chipset will likely bring quality-of-life upgrades in comparison to its predecessor. We won’t be surprised if we also see some tweaks for AI. We expect Qualcomm to finally reveal this processor soon.
The phone in Geekbench has 8 GB of RAM, but considering the leaks, we will also see a 12 GB RAM variant. It’s amazing to see how far the mid-range Moto G-series has come to offer 12 GB of RAM. Last but not least, the phone will offer Android 14 from day one.
Unfortunately, details are still scarce when it comes to the smartphone. However, considering the leaks, we expect it to arrive pretty soon. We will share more details when we find more.
