WhatsApp Status Now Supports 1-Minute-Long Voice Notes

The folks at the WABetaInfo have spotted the new update. The new 1-minute cap for voice notes at status will give users a better way to communicate or express themselves through WhatsApp’s take on Stories without any interruption. To make things even better, the update is rolling out simultaneously for both Android and iOS platforms. Also there is no limitation, you can head to Google Play Store or App Store and check for the update.

If you’ve updated the app but the feature is still not available, then you may need to wait a few days. WhatsApp is rolling out the feature gradually. Despite the wide availability for both Android and iOS, it may take a few days to cover all eligible users.

To use the new feature, you only need to hold the microphone button and start recording. You can slide to cancel the note if you need, the usability is basically the same as we do with the personal voice notes.

Other Upcoming Updates

Interestingly, the same publication brings some details about future updates. Apparently, WhatsApp is also bringing a major revamp to the profile pictures. The company is working on a feature, which will allow users to set AI-generated profile pictures using a simple prompt within the app.

Moreover, the company is developing a feature that will allow users to share status updates with only a specific group of people. In other words, it seems that Meta will soon bring Instagram’s Close Friends feature to WhatsApp. On Instagram, you can set some of the people you follow as “close friends”, and you can share stories and updates that only people within this select group will be able to see.

There is no word on when WhatsApp will bring these features to users. It is worth noting that the company also has some other features in development for its users. We expect to hear more about this and other updates in the near future.
