With the imminent release of the Galaxy Watch7 series, Samsung is preparing the ground. The company announced a set of new AI features coming with the upcoming One UI 6 Watch. We assume the new version will be running atop the WearOS 5. Google unveiled the next OS update for wearables earlier this month during the Google I/O. Now, Samsung is revealing what it has in tow for the next big update coming to Galaxy Watches.
One UI 6 Watch Arrives with Focus on AI
The first thing we can notice is that, yes, One UI 6 Watch will also embrace the AI fever. Samsung’s Galaxy AI will help the platform to give you “more comprehensive health insights”. It will also provide “motivational encouragement to help you improve your daily wellness”.
The feature dubbed Energy Score will help you better understand your daily condition through a combined analysis of personal health metrics. It includes sleep time average and consistency. Also, it combines wake time consistency, sleep timing, previous day activity, sleeping heart rate, and heart rate variability. The feature resembles Garmin’s Body Battery, so it’s interesting to see Samsung bringing its view of the feature to more users. There are also Wellness Tips that will give you insights, motivational tips, and guidance based on the specific goal you’re trying to achieve.
Besides the new features, the One UI 6 Watch update will bring new health algorithms and more advanced tracking tools to “provide more holistic, personalized and actionable insights when combined with AI”. The “sleep AI algorithm” will be enhanced to “Provide more in-depth sleep insights”, while newly added sleep indicators for Sleep Insights will give a more detailed and more accurate analysis of your sleep quality so you can build better habits.

The added metrics include movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart rate, and respiratory rate during sleep. It will also combine the info with other supported metrics like snoring hours, blood oxygen level, and sleep cycle.
The new UI will Arrive for Multiple Galaxy Watch models
The One UI 6 Watch will also bring new Aerobic Threshold Heart Rate Zone metrics for running. There will also be Functional Threshold Power metrics for cyclists, and the new Workout Routine that combines various exercises for a personalized workout and seamlessly transitions to the next exercise without stopping. Last, but not least, there is a new Race feature that compares current and past performance on the same routes for outdoor running and cycling.
Junho Park, VP and Head of the Galaxy Ecosystem Product Planning Team, said:
“By expanding the power of Galaxy AI across our ecosystem, we’re looking to open up all new possibilities with optimized and connected experiences that offer users greater personalization and intelligence. The introduction of Galaxy AI to Galaxy Watch is just the beginning of this process and we’re excited to showcase even more integrations across our Galaxy portfolio very soon.”
The update to One UI 6 Watch will become available “later this year”. This is a rather vague formation, but we assume it will be sometime after the launch of the Galaxy Watch7 series. We don’t know if it will also coincide with the release of WearOS 5 from Google. We expect the company to share more specific details and the full roadmap in the coming months. Anyway, Samsung already provided a list of which devices will receive One UI 6 Watch and it includes:
- Galaxy Watch4
- Galaxy Watch4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch5
- Galaxy Watch5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch6
- Galaxy Watch6 Classic.
Conclusion
Samsung is bringing a set of interesting AI features with the One UI 6 Watch. These features will further enhance the company’s wearables with smart features and assistance tools to make them powerful health companions and activity-tracking devices.
