Possible Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra’s Battery Certified By India BIS

It seems that we will have a different arrangement for Samsung foldable in 2024. We have been hearing rumors about a new Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra variant coming along with the regular Galaxy Z Fold6. However, these rumors have been lacking proper confirmation. This starts to change now that Samsung certified new battery models at the Bureau of India Standards (BIS) certification. These allegedly belong to the Galaxy Z Fold6. Since it is part of the Z Fold6 series, it will come in July this year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra Has Been Certified By BIS

The BIS certification revealed two new batteries from Samsung featuring the model numbers EB-BF959ABE and EB-BF959ABY. These batteries were spotted by the folks at MySmartPrice. Considering that the vanilla Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 had its model number confirmed as SM-F956B, these batteries don’t belong to the vanilla smartphone. These batteries are variants of one of the batteries that will appear in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra.

The other battery carries the model numbers EB-BF958ABE or EB-BF958ABY, depending on the manufacturer or supplier. This certification means that the device could be used in India, even if it doesn’t launch in the country through official ways.

The string BF in the model number represents a battery for a fold or a flip series smartphone. The Samsung Fold Battery Model numbers start with the string BF9. The Flip Battery model numbers, on the other hand, start with the string BF7. Therefore, the model numbers revealed above become an upcoming Fold model. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have batteries with the model number EB-BF956ABY and EB-BF957ABY. So, the string BF959 suggests that we are looking at a Fold 6 series smartphone, but it is above the regular Fold6, which likely means the battery belongs to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra that has been in the rumor mill for quite some time now.

We don’t know exactly what Samsung plans for an Ultra variant, perhaps beefier specifications. Of course, it should cost way more than the regular variant which is already expensive. The timing would be perfect, as the company is also expected to debut a Galaxy Watch Ultra at the next Galaxy Unpacked event.

We expect more details to surface soon as we are nearing the possible launch window for these smartphones.
