Vivo X100s Leads AnTuTu May Charts, X100 Ultra Ranks Last

Vivo X100s series

AnTuTu is a popular benchmark platform for smartphones. Thanks to AnTuTu benchmarks, consumers get to know which phones are likely to perform better. This not only helps them make purchase decisions but is also an interesting piece of information for tech enthusiasts to know which phones are currently the best. Well, last month, Vivo X100s and Vivo X100 Ultra were released, and they brought the new Dimensity 9300+ chip to the market. Now, it seems that the series has taken the crown, scoring the number one spot as well as the number ten spot. In this article, we will not only the Vivo devices but also other phones that made it to the top 10.

Dimensity 9300 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

For those unaware, there are two big competitors in the smartphone market: Qualcomm and MediaTek. Currently, their flagship offering is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300 respectively. Both the chips are based on 4nm architecture ensuring high efficiency. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 features a powerful setup with one high-performance Cortex-X4 core at 3.3 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 3.15 GHz for efficient multitasking, two additional Cortex-A720 cores at 2.96 GHz for extra performance, and two power-efficient Cortex-A520 cores at 2.27 GHz. This balanced configuration provides strong overall performance and efficiency.

In comparison, the Dimensity 9300 is designed for high performance with one Cortex-X4 core at 3.25 GHz, three additional high-performance Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85 GHz, and four efficient Cortex-A720 cores at 2 GHz. The Dimensity 9300 focuses more on raw performance with multiple high-performance cores

MediaTek’s chip also has a higher GPU frequency and a 6 MB larger L3 cache size than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This is all reflected in the benchmark scores where Dimensity 9300 can give strong competition to Snapdragon. To make it much worse for Qualcomm, MediaTek released an enhanced version of their chip, the Dimensity 9300+.

  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a GPU frequency of 770 MHz, the Dimensity 9300 has a 1300 MHz frequency. This makes Dimensity 9300’s GPU frequency around 69% more than that of Snapdragon.
  • In CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a frequency of 3300 MHz. For comparison, the Dimensity 9300 CPU features a 3250MHz frequency. But with Dimensity 9300+, MediaTek solves this problem by increasing the frequency to 3400 MHz.
  • The Dimensity 9300+ brings the prime Cortex-X4 core to 3.4GHz (up from 3.25GHz). It also improves the APU performance by 10% for AI capabilities.

As evident, the crown has been given to Vivo X100s powered by the new Dimensity 9300+ chip. Full specifications and highlights of Vivo X100s can be checked out in our previous article.

The second one is the Oppo Find X7 with Dimensity 9300. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-poweredΒ  Red Magic 9Β  Pro+ secures the third position. There is not a big score difference between the phones. However, many of the top phones have one thing in common and that is an advanced cooling system. For example, the Oppo Find X7 features a aerospace-grade cooling system to ensure optimal performance.

It is a bit ironic that the Vivo X100 Ultra, the most high-end phone in the X100 series sits at the bottom. While the Vivo X100s which is not even the high-end offering in the lineup sits comfortably at the top.Β  You can check out the official website of AnTuTu for more details.

The high competition between MediaTek and Qualcomm has market implications. For example, there will be more competition to bring high-performing devices. We have already seen that MediaTek did not let Qualcomm breathe and brought an overclocked version. Hence, the competition is high. Qualcomm is also preparing for its next-gen flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It is confirmed to feature the new Oryon CPU cores and will focus highly on AI capabilities. As a tech enthusiast, I am looking forward to seeing the new advancements in chips that will surely make smartphones more capable, and ultimately consumers will benefit.
