The OnePlus 13 is shaping up to be a significant leap forward. Its potential upgrades are likely to reach beyond its internal specs. A recent leak by reliable tech insider Digital Chat Station hints at a major revamp in the camera department. To be specific, the tipster shared that the phone’s zoom and ultrawide lenses are in for upgrades.

OnePlus 13 Could Feature a More Capable Camera Setup

The primary 50 MP Sony LYT-808 sensor from the OnePlus 12 is expected to remain unchanged. But the supporting cast appears to be getting a serious boost. The rumor mill suggests the periscope and ultrawide cameras will ditch their previous sensors. OnePlus 13 is likely to adopt the 50 MP Sony IMX882 sensor instead. This sensor has already proven its capabilities in mid-range phones. Take the OnePlus Ace 3V and the POCO F6, for example.

For those unfamiliar, the OnePlus 12 relied on a 64 MP sensor for its telephoto lens. The ultrawide was a 48 MP sensor. The switch to a uniform 50MP sensor across all three lenses on the OnePlus 13 could lead to more consistent image quality. We may even see a boost in image processing.

But the true impact of this upgrade remains to be seen. The OnePlus 12 did capture great photos in well-lit environments. But the low-light performance was a known hurdle. Here’s hoping the OnePlus 13 addresses this limitation. The new setup could deliver stellar camera performance across all lighting conditions.

Beyond the technical specifications, the physical layout of the camera system might also see a makeover. Earlier leaks hinted at a redesigned rear camera array. The reports hinted that the OnePlus 13 could ditch the current offset design. Instead, it may come with a more central and aesthetically pleasing circular cutout.

The OnePlus 13 is still a few months away from its official launch, with a projected December debut in China. This gives us ample time to see further leaks and get confirmations about these exciting camera upgrades. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the official unveiling!
