WhatsApp is one of the world’s most popular messaging apps. Meta has been constantly improving the app and implementing new features to extend its capabilities. The app offers wide compatibility with a multitude of smartphones running Android, iOS, and even some feature phones running alternative OS. Although the company tends to do its best to offer compatibility with multiple devices for years, the end of the road is inevitable for some.
Over 35 Devices Losing Support for WhatsApp in 2024
According to a report from the website CanalTech, WhatsApp stopped receiving updates on a total of 35 mobile phones that have older versions of Google and Apple operating systems. The list includes models from Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, Sony, LG, and also Apple. So it’s recommended to check the list below to find out whether or not you should change your mobile device to continue using WhatsApp device safely. Interestingly, some devices in the list are old, but due to the decent hardware or the inability to upgrade, some users are still using the messaging app through them. Currently, WhatsApp only recommends using the app if you have a device with Android 5.0 (or later) or an iPhone with iOS 12 (or later).
