Redmi is preparing for the launch of the K70 Ultra, the eldest sibling in the K70 lineup. Currently, multiple phones are in the lineup including K70 and K70 Pro. Now it’s time for the Chinese company to launch the high-end model. Ahead of the launch, the company has started teasing information about the device including its design and features. Let’s have a look below.
Familiar Design Language
The Redmi K70 Ultra seems to follow in the footsteps of younger siblings. It has a similar rectangular camera module; however, the camera sensors are now square compared to the circular ones in the previous models. Apart from this small difference, the rest of the design seems similar. The rectangular camera module is a matter of personal taste as people may like and some may prefer something more elegant. The phone comes in a violet color option which looks aesthetically pleasing. The front side has a punch-hole and the display also has slim bezels.
Key Specifications & Highlights
Redmi (via Weibo) has revealed some highlights of the phone. This is the first smartphone to use a new display that is developed jointly by TCL. It has a resolution of 1220p. Moreover, it is also a treat for gamers thanks to its 120Hz high refresh rate. Additionally, the phone also supports 3840Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming technology. In the camera department, there are four shooters on the rear side. The primary is a 50MP shooter that has the support of OIS for stabilized shots. The details on the other sensors are still unknown, however, the Redmi K-series lineup is mostly performance-oriented and the camera is not the biggest highlight.
Gizchina News of the week
The Redmi K40 Ultra will feature the Dimensity 9300+ chipset. It is an 8-core processor based on a 4nm architecture ensuring high performance and efficiency. It is one of the fastest processors in the market making it an ideal choice for gamers. The processor has an average AnTuTu score of 2.3M+, which is quite high. Moreover, to keep the phone cool during heavy usage, it has a new 3D heat dissipation solution which Redmi is calling ‘Ice Circulation Cold Pump’. Redmi claims that it can lower the temperature by up to 3°C.
Redmi Is Targeting Gamers & Heavy Users With K70 Ultra
From the teasers, we can assume that the phone will be a performance-oriented device. The teased specifications hint at a target of a higher-end market. The company might be positioning this phone strategically to combat the competition. For comparison, Redmi’s competitor Realme previously announced the GT 6 model that has Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship SoC. It has a price tag of CNY 2,799 ($385), which is an aggressive price for a flagship-level processor. Now, Redmi may have the answer to this phone with the K70 Ultra also featuring a flagship-tier processor.
That said, the release date of the phone is not finalized yet. However, with the official teasers coming, it is likely the phone will be launched in the coming weeks.
