Nothing still remains one of the youngest smartphone companies in the world and of course, a smaller company as well. The company that came into existence in October 2022 deals mainly in smartphones and its related accessories for now. The company has already launched a couple of smartphones and earbuds within the past few years which have all received a welcoming reception around the world. To further enhance its reputation, the company has recently launched a new midrange device that seems to be getting a lot of attention from the smartphone industry.
Nothing CMF Phone (1) Makes Massive Sales
Today, Nothing has announced that its CMF Phone (1) has made some groundbreaking sales. The new smartphone that sells for just $199 recorded a whooping 100,000 sales within 3 hours. The CMF Phone 1 is Nothing’s sub-brand CMF’s first smartphone. CMF, launched last year, focuses on budget-friendly accessories with standout designs. The CMF Phone 1 grabbed attention with its flashy, customizable design and extremely low price.
As 9to5Google noted in its review earlier this week, the CMF Phone 1 is possibly one of the best deals in Android today, and customers seem to agree.
In a post on Twitter/X, Nothing announced that it sold over 100,000 units of the new midrange smartphone within three hours of its release. The Nothing Phone (2a), which the CMF Phone 1 is heavily based on took 24hrs to reach the same milestone.

Nothing Co-Founder Expresses Gratitude for the Succes of the CMF Phone (1)
While delivering a statement to GsmArena, Nothing co-founder Alkis Evangeldis said:
Following the incredible success of Phone (2a) in March, CMF Phone 1 is a breath of fresh air in a stagnating value segment that has seen more of the same in recent years and has often been neglected. Leveraging Nothing’s innovation and strength in design, CMF Phone 1 brings something unique, fun, and functional, while still delivering a great user experience. Sales are never the end goal but the result of making great products loved by users – and we couldn’t be more grateful for the market reception and achieving this record-breaking result on the first day of sales. We thank the Nothing community, partners, and investors for all the support thus far and look forward to keeping on making tech fun again!
The timing of the release is also notable. Nothing announced the first CMF Phone at 10 am local time in the UK, which was very early in the morning for the US region. In the US, Nothing sells the device through a “beta program.” If the three hours of sales the company mentioned were right after the device’s debut, it means that hardly any of the initial wave of sales came from US customers who would be impressed by a $199 smartphone.
