Discover the Vivo V40 SE 4G: Budget-Friendly Smartphone With AMOLED Display

The Vivo V-series focuses on the mid-range market. Now a new smartphone has been unveiled in the series: the Vivo V40 SE 4G. This is an affordable smartphone having some highlights such as an AMOLED display, a high refresh rate, and more. Below we will check out all aspects of the smartphone including its design, specifications, features, and pricing.

Design

Vivo v40 se 4g

The Vivo V40 SE brings a traditional look with a boxy camera module on the rear side. The rectangular module features three camera shooters aligned vertically and an LED flashlight. The ring around the camera sensors also has a silver or gold color accent adding to the aesthetics. The phone is quite slim and sleek having a thickness of only 7.79mm. While holding the device should also be comfortable with its low weight of 186 grams.

It comes in two color options including Crystal Black and Leather Purple. For those who want a vegan leather finish can opt for the Leather Purple option. The phone also has IP54-rated water resistance offering peace of mind to the users.

Vivo V40 SE 4G Display

The Vivo V40 SE 4G features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution. Having an AMOLED display ensures deeper blacks and punchy colors. Hence, it will be a good choice for those who consume a lot of multi-media content. Having used both the AMOLED and IPS panels, I would opt for the AMOLED as it gives an immersive experience when watching movies. Moreover, there is also a high 120Hz refresh rate for a buttery smooth touch experience. The device has a peak brightness of 1800 nits, which is decent in this price range.

Camera

On the rear side, there are three camera shooters. The phone features a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a flicker sensor. Unfortunately, it misses out on an ultra-wide shooter which will be a disappointment for some users. On the front, there is an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

Performance & Battery

Performance is not a big highlight of the device as it is powered by the Snapdragon 685 chipset. The chip features 8 cores and is based on 6nm architecture. It is a budget-oriented chipset that is limited to 4G connectivity. The lack of 5G connectivity may not be ideal for long-term usage. This processor is suitable for general usage like browsing the internet and social media. However, it may not be an ideal choice for gaming. For comparison, the CMF Phone 1 in the similar price range offers Dimensity 7300 offering better performance but also 5G connectivity. The phone gets 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and options of 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.

The Vivo V40 SE 4G features a big 5,000mAh battery with 80W rapid charging support. With its fast charging and big battery, the Vivo phone should provide a good backup. The phone comes out of the box with FunTouch OS 14-based Android 14. Additional features include an in-screen fingerprint sensor for enhanced security, 8GB virtual RAM, and a microSD card slot. Pricing

The Vivo V40 SE 4G is launched in the Czech Republic with a starting price of 4,999 CZK which roughly translates to 213 USD.

Conclusion

The Vivo V40 SE 4G is targeting multimedia consumers with its AMOLED display. In this price range, there are devices with IPS LCD panels, and hence the Vivo V40 SE shines with its AMOLED panel. The second highlight of the device is its big battery and fast charging. On the flip side, it lacks in the performance and camera segment. Hence, users who want a big battery and a good display but have no heavy gaming requirements can opt for the Vivo V40 SE 4G.
