HyperOS: Distinguishing Features from MIUI on Xiaomi Devices

Xiaomi HyperOS 1.5

Xiaomi is updating its mobile operating system from MIUI to HyperOS. While both systems are used on Xiaomi devices, HyperOS brings new features. Here’s how HyperOS stands out and helps users.

Xiaomi HyperOS 1.5

1. Unified Ecosystem Integration

HyperOS aims to connect all Xiaomi products under one system. This includes phones, tablets, laptops, wearables, and smart home devices. This integration promises an easy user experience, letting users switch between devices and manage their smart home more efficiently. It even connects with Xiaomi’s SU7 electric car.

2. Better Performance and Battery Life

HyperOS uses fewer resources than MIUI, taking up only 9.14 GB compared to MIUI’s 12.53 GB. This saves over 3 GB of storage and makes the system run smoother and faster. HyperOS also improves battery life. Initially, battery usage might be high due to background optimizations, but it will last longer after that.

3. Dynamic Interaction Features

HyperOS has a feature like Apple’s Dynamic Island, called the “Dynamic Notch.” This feature uses the area around the notch or punch-hole camera to show information like charging speed, battery percentage, hotspot status, and silent mode. Currently, it has limited functions but will offer more in future updates.

4. Easy Bloatware Removal

MIUI users often complained about pre-installed apps, or bloatware, which were hard to remove. HyperOS makes this easy with a tool to delete unwanted apps. This frees up storage and improves performance by reducing background activity.

5. Improved Control Center

HyperOS features a new Control Center with a clean look, removing icon captions by default for simplicity. Users can re-enable captions in settings if they prefer. The new Control Center has larger icons and a single, swipeable screen for easy access. It also includes a music playback widget, allowing users to control music without switching apps.

Looking Ahead

Users like HyperOS for its ecosystem integration, better performance, and easy-to-use features like bloatware removal. Xiaomi is expanding HyperOS to more devices, ensuring a smooth transition. As HyperOS evolves, it may add new features, enhance the Dynamic Notch, and integrate third-party apps and services. HyperOS marks a big improvement for Xiaomi, focusing on a seamless user experience and a connected ecosystem, setting a new standard for its products.
