The Sihoo Doro S100 chair is a budget-friendly ergonomic chair, a more affordable alternative to Sihoo’s luxury model, the Doro S300. With a focus on providing ergonomic support at a lower price, the Doro S100 aims to deliver comfort and functionality without the hefty price tag associated with high-end office chairs. To determine its effectiveness, I spent 3 weeks using the Doro S100 and evaluated it based on assembly, comfort, build quality, price, design, and features.

Assembly

Assembling the Sihoo Doro S100 is quite an effort, which is typical for Sihoo chairs. Unlike high-end office chairs that come pre-assembled, the Doro S100 arrives in multiple parts to keep production and retail costs low. This approach is beneficial for budget-conscious buyers but makes the assembly process more challenging.

The armrests, for instance, need to be screwed in from below, which can be fiddly and time-consuming. The shallow grooves meant to hold the armrests in place while you insert the screws are not very effective, often causing the armrests to fall over during assembly. It took me longer than expected to put the chair together, so be prepared for some frustration and extra time if you decide to purchase this chair.

Comfort and Build Quality

The Sihoo Doro S100 is a comfortable chair, especially considering its price. It doesn’t offer the plush, sink-in feel of high-end chairs with memory foam or real leather, but it makes good use of its mesh, plastic, and metal materials. The seat is comfortable for long hours of use, and while the armrests aren’t the softest, they effectively support your arms in an ergonomic position.

Gizchina News of the week

The lower-back support with double plates provides a cradling effect, though it might feel less solid than single-plate designs. I experienced slight discomfort once when my lower back got caught between the plates, but it wasn’t a recurring issue and didn’t significantly detract from the overall comfort.

In terms of build quality, the chair uses a lot of hard plastic but feels sturdy and well-balanced. It’s not the most luxurious, but it’s solid for its price range. The materials used are decent, and the chair feels reliable and durable during everyday use.

Price

The standout feature of the Sihoo Doro S100 is its price. Although it retails around $550, you can often find it on sale for approximately $350. For under $400, you get a decent ergonomic chair with good lumbar support, which is fantastic value for money. It’s hard to find such a quality chair at this price point, making the Doro S100 an excellent choice for budget-conscious buyers who still want a comfortable and supportive office chair.

Design and Features

Sihoo chairs, including the Doro S100, are known for their practical but uninspired designs. They use a lot of hard plastic and have a utilitarian look. If aesthetics are a priority, you might prefer higher-end chairs from brands like Secret Lab or Anda Seat, which offer more visually robust designs but at a much higher price.

The Doro S100 offers a full set of adjustment features. You can elevate, recline, move the seat forward and back, and adjust the angle of the headrest. These standard features are implemented well and enhance the chair’s ergonomic benefits. The chair’s design, though not particularly stylish, is functional and provides the necessary adjustments to ensure a comfortable seating position.

Ideal User

The Sihoo Doro S100 is ideal for budget-conscious users who prioritize ergonomics over aesthetics. It’s suitable for those who need a comfortable chair for long hours of use without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for a well-built ergonomic chair and can tolerate the basic design, the Doro S100 is an excellent choice. It’s particularly well-suited for home office setups or workplaces where cost is a significant consideration.

Verdict

The Sihoo Doro S100 excels in providing good ergonomic support at a budget-friendly price. It’s not the most luxurious or visually appealing chair I admit. However it offers great value for money with its solid build and comprehensive adjustment features. If you need an ergonomic chair without spending a fortune, the Sihoo Doro S100 is a solid contender.
