With the imminent release of Android 15 set for August 13, those who have smartphones made by third-party Android OEMs are eagerly waiting for the update. Samsung smartphone owners aren’t an exception, as Samsung already confirmed its One UI 7 skin to be coming with Android 15. So far the brand has been one of the best for Android updates outside of Google’s wings and it’s expected to be among the first to roll out Android 15 to its smartphones. However, the first public beta of Android 15-based One UI 7 should take a bit more than initially thought.
Samsung One UI 7.0 Beta Coming Only in August
The first public beta for One UI 7 based on Android 15 was initially rumored to go live this week for the Samsung Galaxy S24 family. However, we’re almost at the end of the week, and this has not happened yet. According to a new rumor, it won’t. Instead, has been pushed back to the third week of August, allegedly. The reason for the delay has to do with the One UI 6.1.1 update. It is still making its way to older Galaxy foldable, tablets, and some high-end smartphones. Samsung wants to focus on one update at a time.
One UI 7 will be a pretty big update, coming with a major redesign of Samsung’s skin on top of Android. According to the leaks, it will have a revamped Quick Settings panel that is separated from the notifications. It will also have more rounded corners throughout the UI, new icons for Samsung apps, and a new lock screen design with battery charging status and thicker shortcuts. It will also feature a search bar at the bottom of the app drawer and a new camera app. The new camera app should facilitate things for one-hand usage and more convenient placement for the settings and modes.
Gizchina News of the week
The rumors about One UI 7 also suggest new, smoother animations to play across the UI. However, we need to digest these details with a grain of salt. After all, we will need for the actual public beta for a complete overview of the new features.
The First Eligible Devices for One UI 7
As usual, the most recent Samsung flagship smartphones will be the first in line for the new One UI 7.0 beta. That said, the public beta will reach the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra first. It might be released in South Korea first. Germany, India, the UK, the USA, and China might also get access to the update. However, that should roll out a little bit later than the initial release.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 should follow suit as the next in line for One UI 7. For the duo, we expect exclusive features to make use of their foldable screen capabilities. The Beta program should also expand to older high-end smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. It remains to be seen whether it will also reach older foldable smartphones.
With the rollout in August, Samsung has plenty of time to ensure a stable rollout until the end of 2024. Usually, the brand has been rolling out the stable release for its flagships in the final quarter of every year. It then proceeds to bring the update to the mid-range smartphones. There are plenty of Galaxy A and Galaxy M-series that are also eligible for this and for future updates.
Conclusion
Samsung has been committed to offering high-grade software support for its smartphones. Hence, we won’t be surprised if the company ends up as one of the first to bring stable Android 15 after Google’s public rollout. We will be following the matter for more details.
