Google Pixel 9

Google is gearing up to unveil the Pixel 9 series on August 13. However, a recent leak has given us an early glimpse of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold designs and color options. These images, shared by the tipster @MysteryLupin, provide a sneak peek into what we can expect from the upcoming models. You can take a look at them below.

Consistent with earlier leaks, the latest renders showcase a flat design and a distinct camera island that no longer merges with the frame. Each model also sports a centered punch-hole front camera.

The standard Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro each feature a single pill-shaped camera cutout on the back. In contrast, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has dual pill-shaped cutouts. Despite the design differences, the standard Pixel 9 still includes a dual-camera setup, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold seems to mirror the Pixel 9 Pro with its triple-camera configuration on the back.

Gizchina News of the week

The Pixel 9 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch “Actua” display, a slight upgrade from its predecessor’s 6.2-inch screen. The main camera and ultrawide sensors are rumored to be 50MP and 48MP, respectively, with the ultrawide sensor seeing a significant boost from the previous 12MP. The selfie camera remains at 10.5MP, consistent with the previous model. At this time, there is no additional reliable information regarding the sensors.

Google Tensor G4 and Android 14

While the renders depict three models, a previous rumor suggests there are actually four models in the  Google Pixel 9 series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

In terms of performance, the entire series will be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, which is expected to offer only minor improvements over last year’s Tensor G3. For more details on the Tensor G4, you can check out additional information here.

We also expect faster 45W charging for some models. Lastly, they’re expected to run Android 14 breaking a long tradition of new Pixel phones shipping new Android versions. This does not comes a huge surprise. After all, the Pixels are launching earlier than the usual October release. Android 15, apparently, won’t be ready by August 13.
