Rumors of a Huawei tri-fold phone have been circulating for months. Earlier reports suggested Huawei might be the first to market with this innovative device. This would give the company the upper hand against competitors like Samsung. Industry insider Digital Chat Station also shared the device is entering production.

Former Huawei CEO Spotted with Tri-Fold Phone

It seems that uncertainty about the company behind the rumored tri-fold phone has ended. A recent image (attached below) shows former Huawei CEO Yu Richard using a device with this unique design. The photo shows two distinct creases, confirming the tri-fold mechanism. Unlike traditional foldable phones, this device features two hinges. A centered punch-hole camera is visible on the left side of the unfolded phone.

This recent sighting of the device in the hands of former CEO Yu Richard solidified rumors. Digital Chat Station has confirmed the device is identical to a Huawei prototype. The insider has also shared that the production will start soon. This would make Huawei lead the charge in the next generation of foldable smartphones.

Gizchina News of the week

The Huawei tri-fold phone is shaping up to be a technological powerhouse. Recent leaks suggest a massive 10-inch display and a groundbreaking hinge design. Under the hood, the device is said to feature a Kirin 9-series chipset. This is the same processor slated for the Mate 70 series

Huawei Kirin SoC

Another interesting piece of information shared is that the tri-fold phone may launch before the Mate 70 series. This positions the device for a potential September or October release. But as with previous Huawei foldable devices, it may not land on all markets. US consumers, in particular, may face challenges in acquiring the device due to the trade ban. Of course, it’s possible to import Huawei phones through third-party resellers.

But the problem with third-party resellers is the warranty. You would need to ship phones back, which can be a hassle. So, it’s usually better to buy devices directly from the manufacturer.
