Details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 remain scarce. But that’s nothing new. Nintendo is known for keeping its secrets close. The company did confirm the console’s existence, but that’s pretty much it.

However, industry analyst Hideki Yasuda offered predictions about the Nintendo Switch 2. His insights cover potential release timing, pricing, and performance.

Hideki Yasuda Shares His Insights on the Nintendo Switch 2

Analyst Hideki Yasuda shared more details about the Nintendo Switch 2. He believes the console will arrive in the first half of 2025. This matches rumors about a possible April launch.

Yasuda also predicted the Nintendo Switch 2’s price. He thinks it could cost up to $499. While this might seem low, he warns it could be expensive for Japanese consumers. This is due to the weak Japanese Yen and higher living costs in the United States.

Yasuda also shared insights about the Switch 2’s power. He suggests the console might be less powerful than the PS4 Pro. At best, the gaming handheld could match the PS4 Pro’s performance. But it might even fall short.

Speaking of performance, previous reports from credible sources claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will offer performance comparable to Steam Deck. But there were concerns about the software limiting the performance, which makes sense. Consoles tend to come with many anti-piracy features. These can hold back the hardware.

Moreover, Nintendo often prioritizes innovation over raw power. However, the potential $499 price tag for a console less powerful than the PS4 Pro might disappoint some.

Another report from an industry insider suggested that we may not see the Switch 2 release before March of 2025. So, Yasuda’s prediction that the console will launch in April aligns with this report.

One thing to note is that the upcoming handheld is said to launch with major AAA titles. This would be a welcoming change because the first-gen Nintendo Switch had very limited games at launch.
