The Redmi Pad SE 8.7 is now officially available in Europe. Redmi’s latest slate comes in two distinct variants with Wi-Fi and another one with LTE connectivity. The tablet is available in Europe and in the UK, other markets will follow this initial launch soon and India is on the list.
Redmi Pad SE 8.7 Specifications and Features
Regardless of the connectivity option, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 comes with an 8.7-inch IPS LCD screen. The panel offers a 1,340 x 800 pixels resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a 5:3 aspect ratio. The panel is decent considering that this is a compact tablet. It has up to 600 nits of brightness outdoors. The slate features a 5 MP front-facing camera. The screen is flanked by dual speakers with Dolby Atmos and you will also get a headphone jack if you prefer wired audio. The rear camera is a simple 8 MP shooter capable of Full HD video recording.
The back gets a single 8MP shooter capable of FHD video recording. Both versions of the tablet come with MediaTek’s Helio G85 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64/128GB storage. Storage is expandable via the onboard microSD card slot. The chipset is modest for 2024 standards but should be enough for casual web browsing, social media, and multimedia consumption. It has 2 ARM Cortex-A75 cores for performance and 6 x ARM Cortex-A55 cores for power efficiency. This chipset boasts an aging 12nm manufacturing which makes it less power-efficient than modern devices.
Gizchina News of the week
Despite the old hardware, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 carries the most current software inside. It runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS with Android 14 as the underlying version. We don’t know yet if it will be eligible for future Android updates, but it certainly will get more HyperOS patches.
The Redmi Pad SE 8.7 is equipped with a 6,650 mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. Regrettably, the retail package is only accompanied by a 10W charger, necessitating the purchase of a separate charger to fully utilize the device’s fast charging capability. Nevertheless, the battery should offer satisfactory endurance, particularly given the display size, which is comparable to that of a contemporary smartphone. Furthermore, the absence of a Full HD+ resolution implies reduced power consumption by the GPU, contributing to the tablet’s overall energy efficiency.
Pricing and Availability
The Redmi Pad SE 8.7 sells in Graphite Gray, Aurora Green, and Sky Blue color options. The price for the 4GB/64GB Wi-Fi-only version starts at €150. The LTE model is an extra €30 for the same RAM and storage amount.
