Meet Acer’s First Gaming Handheld: The Nitro Blaze 7

Acer Nitro Blaze 7

Acer has unveiled its latest gaming device, the Nitro Blaze 7. This marks Acer’s entry into the growing market of PC gaming handhelds. The Nitro Blaze 7 offers gamers a portable and powerful gaming experience.

Acer Nitro Blaze 7 Has A Couple of Differentiating Factors

The Acer Nitro Blaze 7 sets itself apart from other PC gaming handhelds with several key features. For starters, it packs the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor. It offers comparable performance to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme found in the Asus ROG Ally X and Lenovo Legion Go. Both processors feature 8 cores, a max boost clock of 5.1 GHz, and 12 RDNA 3 compute units.

The Nitro Blaze 7 also boasts a larger 7-inch, 1920 x 1080p screen. It features a higher refresh rate of 144 Hz than some other options such as the ROG Ally. This should lead to smoother visuals.

Like other PC gaming handhelds running Windows 11, the Nitro Blaze 7 features a customized user interface designed specifically for handheld gaming. Acer’s proprietary UI, called Game Space, acts as a centralized launcher that provides easy access to various gaming platforms.

Design, Features, and Other Details of the Gaming Handheld

The Acer Nitro Blaze 7 shares a hardware design similar to that of other Windows-based gaming handhelds. It features an Xbox-style controller layout with offset joysticks. While some control buttons are conveniently located near the display, others are positioned below the D-Pad and lower joysticks, which might require a bit of stretching to reach. The device includes a microSD card reader for expanding the 2TB storage and two USB 4 ports for charging and connecting peripherals.

Other than that, the Nitro Blaze 7 packs a 50.04 WHr battery, comparable in size to the Steam Deck OLED and slightly larger than the Legion Go’s battery. However, it falls short compared to the 80 WHr unit in the more premium Asus ROG Ally X.

While Acer hasn’t disclosed the official price or release date for the Nitro Blaze 7, we anticipate more details will be announced in the near future.
