MediaTek confirms the launch date of Dimensity 9400

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 will go head-to-head with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The latter chip will make its official debut at the Snapdragon Summit on October 21. However, it seems that MediaTek will reveal its new flagship early.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Will Make Its Debut on October 9

MediaTek announced that the Dimensity 9400 will launch on October 9. The Taiwanese company teased the upcoming flagship chipset on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. In the post, the company promised “a new generation of Mediatek products” for the event.

The Dimensity 9400 is set to deliver impressive performance. It will feature an octa-core CPU consisting of the following:

  • One Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.63 GHz.
  • Three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.8 GHz.
  • Four Cortex-A725 cores at 2.1 GHz.

According to leaked benchmarks, the Dimensity 9400’s performance will be 30% better than its predecessor, the Dimensity 9300. Also, the GPU in the new SoC will be among the most powerful smartphone chips on the market.

Several smartphone manufacturers will adopt the Dimensity 9400. Oppo is rumored to be launching two Find X8 phones powered by this chipset. That means both the standard version and a Pro model will reportedly feature the new MediaTek SoC.

Vivo is also getting ready to introduce the X200 series with multiple phones featuring the Dimensity 9400 platform. These launches will happen shortly after the official announcement of the chipset. But as always, all these phones will land on the Chinese market first. They will later make their way to the internal markets.

The New MediaTek SoC Could Make the Competition Even Tighter

Last year, Dimensity 9300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 had a very close fight. There were several instances where MediaTek’s chipset pulled ahead. However, Qualcomm’s chip sees more adoption, and phones with MediaTek SoC don’t usually reach the wider international market. Hopefully, this time will be different, as the Dimensity 9400 appears to be a solid competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
