The Android phone industry is once again abuzz with excitement as two major chipmakers, Qualcomm and MediaTek, prepare to unveil their next-generation flagship processors in the coming weeks. As anticipation builds, early performance benchmarks for MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 have emerged, giving us a glimpse of what to expect. However, based on the initial Geekbench results, the Dimensity 9400 may not be able to compete head-to-head with its rival, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Let’s take a closer look at the performance of MediaTek’s latest processor and what this could mean for the competition.
Benchmark Results: Dimensity 9400 vs. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
The performance gap between MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 seems to be widening. Recent Geekbench tests show that the OPPO Find X8 Pro, which is powered by the Dimensity 9400, achieved a score of 2,818 in the single-core test and 8,847 in the multi-core test. These results, while respectable, fall short when compared to devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
In previous tests, the OPPO Find X8 Pro scored slightly higher, with 3,010 points in the single-core test and 8,686 in the multi-core test. However, it continues to lag behind its Snapdragon-powered competitors. For instance, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, managed to achieve 3,069 points in the single-core and 9,080 in the multi-core test. Furthermore, the OnePlus 13 widened the gap even more with an impressive 10,049 points in the multi-core test.

What’s Causing the Performance Gap?
One of the key factors behind the Dimensity 9400’s lower scores is believed to be its core frequency. The base speed of the Dimensity 9400 processor is 2.40 GHz, with a maximum clock speed of 3.63 GHz. While these numbers are solid, they fall short of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s performance, which can reportedly reach speeds of up to 4.2 GHz during tests.
This frequency difference seems to play a significant role in determining the overall benchmark scores, giving Qualcomm’s chipset a clear advantage in raw performance.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Specifications
Despite the performance gap, the OPPO Find X8 Pro remains a powerful device. It comes with 16GB of RAM and runs on the latest Android 15 operating system. The Find X8 series is expected to feature three models: the standard version, a Pro model, and an Ultra version. Giving consumers a range of choices depending on their performance needs and preferences.
What Does This Mean for Consumers?
As we move closer to the official release of both processors, it’s clear that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is currently in the lead in terms of performance. However, real-world usage may vary, and factors like price, energy efficiency, and additional features will likely influence consumers’ purchasing decisions.
