Exynos 2400e vs Exynos 2400: Samsung Explains The Difference on Galaxy S24 FE Chipset

After months of anticipation, Samsung moved to the Galaxy FE series yesterday with the release of the new Galaxy S24 FE. The company continues its lineup with a more affordable version of its flagship lineup. However, this year has a big difference, as the new Galaxy S24 FE comes with a different CPU. This model comes with the Exynos 2400e chipset. It’s a slightly scaled-down variant of the Exynos 2400 used in the standard Galaxy S24. According to Samsung, the only major distinction between the Exynos 2400e and its full-fledged counterpart lies in one feature.

The New Exynos 2400e CPU has a 100 MHz Lower Clock

Samsung has announced that the Exynos 2400e chipset in the Galaxy S24 FE operates at a slightly lower clock speed compared to the standard Exynos 2400. Specifically, the performance core of the Exynos 2400e is capped at 3.1GHz. It is 100MHz less than the 3.2GHz maximum clock speed of the Exynos 2400. According to the company, this is the only distinction between the two chips. The underlying hardware remains unchanged, with the frequency being optimized specifically for the S24 FE model.

This minor adjustment in clock speed aims to enhance thermal management within the device, especially since the S24 FE features a less advanced heat dissipation system compared to its siblings. Despite the reduced peak clock speed, most users are unlikely to perceive any significant performance difference, as smartphone chips seldom reach their maximum clock speeds during everyday usage.

Moreover, Samsung has made strides in improving the power efficiency and stability of the Exynos 2400 chip. As a result, both the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of the Galaxy S24 series deliver similar performance levels in a variety of scenarios. Even with this slight clock speed reduction, the Galaxy S24 FE is expected to provide robust performance that is competitive with more premium models in the lineup.

It’s also important to note that performance adjustments can still be implemented without needing to lower or modify the clock speeds further. This flexibility allows the device to maintain a high level of performance. It ensures that users can enjoy a seamless experience without compromising on speed or efficiency.
