After years of requests and over two months since the feature was announced, Google Maps is now rolling out **incident reporting** on Android Auto.
History of Incident Reporting
Incident reporting launched on Google Maps a few years ago but was only available on mobile devices. This limited its usefulness. In July, Google added the feature to Apple’s CarPlay, and soon after, it was announced for Android Auto in India, followed by a global rollout. However, the feature was still missing by the end of September.
Recent Rollout
Now, Google has finally enabled the feature. Over the past two days, many users, including those on Reddit, have confirmed that incident reporting is now live on Android Auto. We’ve also observed it in our own testing.
How Incident Reporting Works
To report an incident, users will see a new triangle hazard icon below the compass in the Google Maps app. Pressing this icon offers options to report road hazards such as crashes, traffic jams, construction, lane closures, and speed traps.

However, the icon may not appear if the dashboard layout in Android Auto doesn’t give Maps enough vertical space. In some cases, adjusting the DPI settings can solve this issue.
Once the feature is live, users will also get prompts asking if the reported hazards are still present along their route.
