Poco Announces Global Website Closure: What happened?

POCO

Poco fans are in for a change as the company announced it will shut down its global website (po.co) on December 31, 2024. This includes all regional sites such as the UK, France, and Global pages. However, Poco is not disappearing entirely. Instead, the brand’s products, services, and support will transition to Xiaomi’s official website (mi.com/global), beginning on October 21st, 2024.

The transition ensures minimal disruption for existing customers. All customer service, purchases, and even loyalty programs, like Poco Points, will be transferred to the Xiaomi platform. Existing coupons will also be reissued before December 12, 2024. Users won’t need to take any extra steps, as all past orders, tracking information, and reviews will migrate automatically to Xiaomi’s system.

What’s Next for Poco?

Although Xiaomi had previously positioned Poco as an independent brand, the closure of the po.co domain suggests a streamlining of operations under Xiaomi’s ecosystem. Despite this, the company will still exist within Xiaomi’s infrastructure, allowing for continuity in product availability and support. However, the standalone Poco Store app will not survive this transition and will cease to function after December 31st.

Impact on Users

The shift to Xiaomi’s platform is designed to be smooth for consumers. You can still access all their products through Xiaomi’s website without worrying about losing your loyalty points or other benefits. Poco India, operating under the poco.in domain, is expected to remain unaffected for the time being.

Ultimately, this change appears to be part of Xiaomi’s broader strategy to consolidate its sub-brands under one digital umbrella. For Poco users, the transition should be seamless, but it signifies an important step in the brand’s journey under Xiaomi’s leadership.
