OnePlus is expected to release its new flagship phone that will feature Qualcomm’s next-gen SoC. While this chipset may not be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, a OnePlus employee named Cai Zuxuan recently shared that the OnePlus 13 will have a customized variant of the chip, which is said to beat the Apple A18 Pro.
The employee said that this would make Qualcomm regain its lead and get to the top of the ranking. If this stands true, the OnePlus 13 could be a worthy flagship phone to own. But what about the price?
OnePlus 13 Will Cost More Than Its Predecessor
The same OnePlus employee now hints at a possible price hike. More specifically, Cai Zuxuan says that the medium configuration of OnePlus 13 will go for more than CNY 5,200. To compare, the mid-config of the predecessor costs CNY 4,799. For reference, CNY 5,200 is approximately $735, while CNY 4,799 is about $678.
Gizchina News of the week
This isn’t the first time the next-gen flagship phones are said to be more expensive than their predecessors. Digital Chat Station, a renowned Weibo tipster, has previously hinted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 smartphones will be more expensive than the current generation flagships.
Even the budget-friendly Redmi phones with the next-gen flagship SoC are tipped to be priced higher than their predecessors. So, it’s not just the OnePlus 13 that could possibly see a price hike.
Of course, the higher price tag could be worth it for those who are waiting for the launch of the OnePlus 13. So far, the company has confirmed that the flagship phone will feature a 2K BOE X2 micro-curved screen with thin bezels. It’s rumored to feature a triple camera setup on the back with a 3x telephoto sensor.
A recent leak has also suggested that the smartphone will come with an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. This would make unlocking the OnePlus 13 faster as ultrasonic is faster and more reliable than an optical sensor.
