iPhone 16 Owners Tackle Draining Battery Woes with iOS 18

Some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro users are experiencing severe battery drain. Many have shared their concerns on platforms like Reddit, Apple Support Communities, and MacRumors forums. While most complaints come from iPhone 16 owners, users with older iPhones running iOS 18 are also facing battery life problems.

Several iPhone 16 owners have noticed their battery drops significantly, even when the phone is not in use. One MacRumors user, T1aaj, mentioned that their iPhone 16 Pro drops to 60% battery by midday, despite light usage. Another user shared a similar issue, stating that their iPhone 16 Pro Max lasts only 50-60% as long as their previous iPhone 15 Pro Max. Both users had similar settings on both devices, but the newer model is draining faster than expected.

In some cases, users report that their phones lose battery while in standby mode, hinting at background processes as a possible cause. One user, huanbrother, tried to address this by turning off Always On Display and ProMotion, but the battery still drained 11% in just over four hours.

Similar Complaints Across Devices

Reddit users also report that the iPhone 16 models and older devices on iOS 18 are facing the same issue. One user, Ok-Interest-6561, switched to the iPhone 16 Pro for better battery life but saw it drop 10-15% overnight while the phone was idle.

Another Reddit user conducted an experiment by using both an iPhone 16 Pro and an iPhone 14 Pro in the same way. After 36 hours, the latest model was down to 58%, while the iPhone 14 Pro still had 85% battery left.

Troubleshooting and Waiting for a FixiPhone 16 Battery

Users have tried several methods to improve battery life, such as turning off ProMotion, disabling Always On Display, and even resetting their devices. Some have seen slight improvements, but the issue persists for many. Software updates like iOS 18.0.1 and the iOS 18.1 beta have helped a few, but not everyone.

At this point, it seems likely that a bug in iOS 18 is causing the battery drain. Apple will need to address this in a future update to resolve the issue for all affected users.
