Apple has released iOS 18.1, along with iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, introducing Apple Intelligence—a set of AI tools that make using your devices easier and more efficient. This update improves everything from Siri and typing to photos and notifications, adding practical, everyday enhancements.
Apple Launches iOS 18.1 with Powerful New Features and AI Tools
With Apple Intelligence, you’ll now find Writing Tools in any app where you can type. These tools let you quickly rewrite, proofread, or summarize text, making it easier to get your message just right.
Siri is also smarter and more helpful than ever. With a fresh new look, Siri can handle more complex questions and even uses ChatGPT to give detailed answers for certain topics.
The Photos app has received two major upgrades. The new Clean Up tool lets you remove unwanted items from your pictures to create a more polished look. Enhanced photo search means you can now find images just by describing them—like “sunset” or “birthday cake”—so you can locate specific photos faster.
New Focus Mode and Streamlined Notifications
The new Focus mode, called Reduce Interruptions, uses AI to block less important notifications, so you only get alerts that truly matter. This helps you stay focused without constant distractions.
Apple has also improved Mail and Notification Summaries, making it easier to see the messages and alerts you care about most without feeling overwhelmed.
Upgraded Camera and AirPods Features
For photographers, iOS 18.1 adds Camera Control features. You can now quickly switch to the front camera on any 2024 iPhone model. On the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, the new Spatial camera mode captures immersive photos and videos with added depth, enhancing your media experience.
AirPods users also get new tools. The Hearing Test feature lets you check your hearing, while Hearing Aid mode turns compatible AirPods into clinical-grade hearing aids. Hearing Protection mode reduces exposure to loud sounds, keeping your ears safe in noisy environments.
Available Now
Currently, Apple Intelligence is only available in U.S. English, and users may need to wait briefly for access due to high demand. iOS 18.1 is available for download on all compatible devices, offering a smarter, more streamlined experience that’s designed to simplify and enhance daily tasks.
