At a big event in China today, Xiaomi launched its Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro smartphones and the latest version of its Android-based software, HyperOS 2. This update brings three main tech innovations to devices in China: HyperCore, HyperConnect, and HyperAI. Together, these are meant to provide a “new, advanced experience” in core functions, seamless device connectivity, and AI-powered interactions — though what that means remains to be seen.
Many Improvements Come with HyperOS 2.0
HyperOS 2 introduces a new scheduler for better performance and memory and I/O resource management upgrades. It also features an overhauled rendering pipeline for smoother visuals. Xiaomi has made “continuous breakthroughs” in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 5G tech to ensure stable network connections everywhere, aiming to eliminate any “blind spots” in connectivity.
You get a new “movie-like” lock screen somehow based on AI, AI-generated dynamic wallpapers, a new home screen layout with “visual upgrades and customized content” for “more and richer widgets”, new and smoother animations, and a new 3D weather representation in the Weather app.
With HyperOS 2, you can control your phone directly from your tablet using a windowed interface. It also includes a cross-device clipboard, allowing you to copy and paste between devices, and even supports cross-device video recording.
New AI Features
This update is only for devices in China. The first HyperOS 2 updates will arrive in November for the Xiaomi 14 series, Mix Fold 4, Mix Flip, Redmi K70 series, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4. In December, more devices will get the update. These include the Xiaomi 13 series, Mix Fold 3, Civi 4 Pro, Redmi K60 series, Redmi Turbo 3, Redmi Note 14 models, Xiaomi Pad 6 series, and Redmi Pad family.
Other models will follow in early next year. Right now, this plan is just for China. Xiaomi hasn’t shared an international release timeline yet, but news should come soon.
