Inside Apple’s Next Leap: M4 Pro’s Remarkable Geekbench Results

M4 Pro

Apple’s newly unveiled M4 Pro processor has made a strong first appearance on Geekbench, showcased alongside a potential 16-inch MacBook Pro. This high-powered model packs a 14-core CPU, a 20-core GPU, and an impressive 48 GB of RAM. Together, these components deliver an exceptional performance boost over the previous M3 Pro, setting a new standard in Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup.

CPU Performance GainsApple M4 Pro

In the Geekbench benchmarks, the M4 Pro achieves scores of 3,925 in single-core and 22,669 in multi-core tests. Compared to the M3 Pro’s results of 3,138 and 15,480, this represents a 25% improvement in single-core performance and a remarkable 46% gain in multi-core. This leap in multi-core performance aligns with the increase in CPU cores, but the 25% single-core boost is especially impressive, likely due to the M4 Pro’s higher clock speed, which reaches 4.51 GHz, up from the M3 Pro’s 4.06 GHz. Additionally, the M4 Pro outperforms the 16-core M3 Max from last year, which scored 21,253 in multi-core tests, underscoring the generational advancements of the new chip.

GPU Power and EfficiencyApple M4 Pro

The M4 Pro’s 20-core GPU also impresses in Geekbench’s OpenCL benchmark, scoring 69,867 points. This result marks a significant 38% increase in GPU performance over the M3 Pro, which scored 50,373. While the M4 Pro’s GPU doesn’t quite match the massive 40-core GPU of the M3 Max, which scored 91,413, it performs exceptionally well for having only half the cores, with a mere 31% deficit. This performance-per-core efficiency highlights Apple’s improvements in GPU architecture and optimization for resource-heavy tasks like gaming, design, and multimedia editing.

What It Means for MacBook Pro Users

With the M4 Pro showing these early results, Apple’s improvements in both CPU and GPU performance position it as a powerful option for MacBook Pro users who need top-tier power and efficiency. The enhancements suggest promising developments for the higher-end M4 Max chip as well, which could redefine MacBook performance in the near future. For those in professional and creative fields, the M4 Pro brings considerable improvements in speed, efficiency, and multitasking capabilities, setting a high bar for Apple’s next generation of silicon.
