Honor MagicOS 9.0 Beta is Rolling Out on Select Devices with New Features

The first MagicOS 9.0 beta update carries the version number 9.0.0.116. It follows the launch of MagicOS 9.0 in late October. The company quickly opened the recruitment for the first closed beta. The first eligible models include the Magic 6 series, Magic 5 series, Magic V3, Vs3, and V2 foldable. Unfortunately, only flagships are present in the first wave as Honor opted not to include other models in this beta program, at least for now.

Those who own any of the eligible models will need to run the base firmware version 8.0.1.173 or 8.0.1.172 to participate in the beta. Initially, only users who registered for the testing program will get this update. Others will have to wait for future releases.

The new Magic  OS 9.0.0.116 update includes several key features. There is a zoom effect for fan icons, as well as several tweaks for the camera interface. Other improvements include enhancements for YOYO suggestions and Private  Space functionalities. With the new update, Honor also adds more optimizations for the Car Connect Feature, as well as easy navigation via Amap, making car-related tasks more seamless. The update also brings finer text fonts and improved stability.

Since this is the first beta update, the eligible devices might experience some issues. The most common issues are overheating, app freezing, battery draining, some instability, and even lags. Therefore, if the device is your daily driver, you must consider these options before proceeding with the update. Also, it’s always recommended to keep a backup.
