WhatsApp has added a new feature to make conversations more convenient. Voice message transcripts are now available. This feature turns voice messages into text, making them easier to read instead of listening to them.
WhatsApp Introduces Voice Message Transcripts for Easier Chats
Many people find voice messages quicker to send than typing. However, they can be annoying to listen to, especially in certain situations. With transcripts, users can keep up with conversations without needing to play audio messages.
How It Works
Voice messages are transcribed directly on your device. This ensures privacy since no one—not even WhatsApp—can hear or read your messages.
Supported Languages
The feature supports different languages depending on your device.
Gizchina News of the week

- On iOS 16, it adds French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Chinese, and Arabic.
- On iOS 17 and newer, more languages are available. These include Danish, Finnish, Hebrew, Malay, Norwegian, Dutch, Swedish, and Thai.
WhatsApp plans to add more languages in the future.
How to Enable and Use Transcripts
Turning on the feature is simple:
- Open Settings in WhatsApp.
- Go to Chats and enable Voice Message Transcripts.
To transcribe a voice message:
- Long-press the message.
- Tap Transcribe.

When Will It Be Available?
