OnePlus Ace 5 Series Has Been Confirmed As the Brand Skips The Fourth

The Chinese culture around the number four is anything but new for enthusiasts of the smartphone world. Since this number is often associated with bad omens and unlucky, smartphone makers tend to completely skip it. OnePlus is also one of the brands that traditionally skip this number. We never had a OnePlus 4 as the company skipped it for the OnePlus 5 and 5T. The same will happen now with the OnePlus Ace series. The lineup reached what would be the fourth entry in the series, but OnePlus will skip the 4. It has been confirmed the next generation of this series will bring the OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro.

OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro Names Have Been Confirmed

OnePlus’Li Jie has also revealed on Weibo that he recently saw some performance test data for the series and the results are exciting. It will be a generation ahead of other smartphones from the competition. While the OnePlus Ace series is exclusive to the Chinese market, global consumers should also consider these devices. After all, they usually escape China under the R-series smartphones. Therefore, we expect the OnePlus Ace 5 to launch internationally as the OnePlus 13R.

The specifications are still a mystery, however, the OnePlus 13R should bring a one-year-old flagship SoC. In this case, it will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the helm giving the smartphone’s horsepower. So, the OnePlus Ace 5 will likely use the 2024 flagship SoC from Qualcomm. The Ace 5 Pro, on the other hand, should use the Snapdragon 8 Elite. We wouldn’t discard an alternative variant, like the OnePlus Ace 5V sporting the Dimensity 9400. However, this is mere speculation at this point.

The OnePlus Ace 5/OnePlus 13R is speculated to come with a flat screen and circular camera island in the top-left part of the back. No surprises here, as this lineup follows the design of the flagship series. Moving on, it might come with a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED Display, with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of Internal Storage. In the camera department, we expect a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2 MP decorative sensor. The phone will also bring a 16 MP selfie snapper, and a big battery over 6,000 mAh with support for 100W fast-wired charging.

The OnePlus 13R acquired multiple certifications recently. So we believe we will soon hear more about the Ace 5 series. After all, these devices will likely appear ahead of the 13R release.
