The latest update to Windows 11, version 24H2, has caused several issues for users, and now Dell device owners are facing new problems. After updating to Windows 11 24H2, Dell users who have the manufacturer’s encryption app installed (version 11.10 or earlier) are experiencing problems with shutting down or putting their devices to sleep. Instead of shutting down or going to sleep, these computers only enter energy-saving mode, leaving users unable to fully turn off their systems.
Dell Offers a Fix for the Issue
While Microsoft has not commented on the issue, Dell has already provided a solution. To resolve the problem, users need to update Dell Encryption to version 11.10.1 or higher. Once this update is installed, the shutdown issue should be fixed, allowing Dell devices to properly power off or enter sleep mode as expected.

How to Apply the Fix
If your Dell system detects this problem, the Dell Encryption app should automatically update to version 11.10.1. However, if the update does not occur, users can manually download the new version from Dell’s website. Before installing the new version, Dell advises users to uninstall older versions of related software. This includes Dell Data Protection, Access, and Dell ControlPoint Security Manager. It’s also crucial to back up any important security access data, especially if version 11.10.0 of Dell Encryption is already installed. In this case, version 11.10.0 must be uninstalled before installing version 11.10.1.
Windows 11 24H2’s Ongoing Issues
This shutdown problem is just one of many issues that users have encountered with the Windows 11 24H2 update. Microsoft has acknowledged several other bugs and glitches on its official status page, where 14 issues are currently listed. Three of these problems have been marked as resolved and two are marked as “mitigated.” However, there is no clear timeline for when the remaining bugs will be fixed. With each update, new issues seem to arise, including problems with USB devices and games. As a result, Microsoft has paused the rollout of the 24H2 update while it works on solutions.
