Xiaomi’s 15 and 15 Pro, launched in October, are now the top picks among flagship smartphones in China. Many other brands have released their latest models in October and November but new data shows that Xiaomi is leading the charge with high activation numbers. Based on data from week 47 (November 18 to November 24), Xiaomi’s 15 series has reached 1.3 million activations. In comparison, the unnamed runner-up lags with 600,000 to 700,000 activations, while the third-place model only reached about 250,000 activations. It’s worth noting these figures reflect actual use, not shipments or units sold. This means devices still in their boxes don’t count toward these numbers, although it’s unlikely that millions of phones remain unused.

Oppo and vivo in the Race

Rumours suggest the second spot is shared by Oppo and Vivo, two brands often referred to as “OV” by Chinese users. Both are owned by BBK Electronics, making this partnership plausible. Honor, meanwhile, sits in third place with its Magic7 series. Oppo’s Find X8 series has shown an interesting trend: the standard Find X8 is outselling its Pro version by a ratio of 5:1. Oppo’s focus on value-packed standard models could explain this skew. Vivo entered the fray with three devices: the X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro mini.

Honor has made its mark with the Magic7 and Magic7 Pro, which are competing strongly in the premium segment. Though its activation numbers trail Xiaomi and OV, Honor remains a solid choice for many buyers.

Xiaomi’s success can be attributed to several factors. Its 15 series offers a mix of high specs, sleek design, and competitive pricing. This balance appeals to buyers seeking value without sacrificing quality. Additionally, Xiaomi’s strong reputation for software updates and ecosystem integration plays a key role. Xiaomi’s 15 series is setting the pace in China’s competitive flagship market. While Oppo, vivo, and Honor continue to attract users, Xiaomi’s strong activation numbers underscore its dominance. With the ongoing battle among these tech giants, it will be exciting to see how the market evolves in the months ahead.
