A rumor from China suggests the Oppo Find N5 may debut by the end of March. This device will likely launch internationally as the OnePlus Open 2, following last year’s pattern where the OnePlus Open was a rebranded Oppo Find N3. (Oppo is skipping “4” due to tetraphobia.)
While earlier reports didn’t clarify the timeline for the Open 2’s release, a tipster on X has now hinted at a less-than-ideal scenario. According to the tip, the OnePlus Open 2 might only launch internationally in the second half of 2025, potentially as early as July. If it is true, it poses a challenge for competitors, as the device is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
Considering its probable flagship pricing, a short lifespan with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip could be less than ideal. However, as this is still an unconfirmed rumor, there’s a chance the timeline or details might change. For now, we’ll need to wait for official updates. In any case, we can’t compare the market of foldable smartphones with regular devices. After all, the brands do their best to keep the prices lower, considering all the technology and complexity of making devices like this. So, the Snapdragon 8 Elite might be the best option even in the half of 2025.

The device carries 48 MP multi-directional PDAF with Optical Image Stabilization. It also has a 64 MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x Optical Zoom. Finally, we have a 48 MP ultrawide shooter with PDAF. The front-facing camera is a 20 MP ultrawide camera and a 32 MP ultrawide snapper. For selfies and video calls the device has a 20 MP shooter.
The Open comes with Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and IR Blaster. It draws power from a 4,805 mAh battery complete with 67W wired charging.
We expect the Open 2 to bring some similarities with its predecessor. However, there is room for multiple improvements.
