Samsung Unveils New Chip with 50W Wireless Charging Support!


Samsung Semiconductor has introduced the S2MIW06 chip, a breakthrough in wireless charging. This advanced chip supports 50 watts of wireless charging for smartphones. It is compatible with the Qi 2.2 standard and works with magnetic chargers, making it highly versatile.

The S2MIW06 chip significantly boosts wireless charging speeds. It supports charging up to 50 watts, a step above the 25 to 45 watts found in current Samsung smartphones. Samsung tested the chip with many chargers, even those without Qi certification. This ensures compatibility and reliable performance.

The chip also supports the Qi 2.2 standard. This allows 15-watt wireless charging for non-Samsung devices using the Extended Power Profile (EPP). Additionally, the chip works with magnetic chargers and accessories, thanks to its Magnetic Force Profile (MPP) compatibility. This gives Samsung users an experience similar to Apple’s MagSafe technology.

Space-Saving and Efficient

The S2MIW06 chip is compact but powerful. It features 70KB of integrated flash storage, offering more customization than similar chips. Its design reduces the space needed on a smartphone’s motherboard by 15%, making devices thinner and more efficient.

The chip also improves reverse wireless charging. It optimizes energy use, making it easier to charge other devices wirelessly.

Future Device Integration

Samsung hasn’t revealed which devices will use the S2MIW06 chip. However, rumors suggest it may debut in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung has confirmed that a Galaxy smartphone with Qi2 support will launch in 2025, marking the beginning of this new technology in its lineup.
