Leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra Images Confirm Downgrade in the S Pen

As the Galaxy S25 Ultra launch draws closer, leaks are picking up speed. Just a couple of days ago, a promotional video briefly appeared online before being taken down. Now, fresh images that seem to be official have surfaced, showing off the Galaxy S25 Ultra along with its S Pen.

One of the biggest changes could be the design, as the S25 Ultra might ditch the classic boxy look of the Note series. But what’s catching attention is the possible change to the S Pen. Rumors suggest it could lose Bluetooth, a feature introduced with the Galaxy Note 9 back in 2018.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra To Lose Many S Pen Features

Bluetooth is what makes many of the S Pen’s features work, like controlling the camera remotely to snap photos, navigating through presentations, and using Air actions for gesture controls. If this change happens, it could signal a shift in how Samsung approaches the S Pen’s role in its flagship phones. The lack of Bluetooth won’t affect some of the features in the S Pen. You will still be able to take notes and doodle with the stylus. However, it will feel inferior and will lose some of its most advanced features.

A promotional image shared by Tarun Vats hints that Samsung may focus on the S Pen’s basic features, like sketching and note-taking, for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This suggests the stylus might not include Bluetooth functionality. However, it will still support Air Command, a shortcut menu that works with the S Pen.

While Air Command activates when the S Pen hovers over the screen, it doesn’t require Bluetooth. Instead, it uses electromagnetic resonance (EMR) technology, which allows the display to detect the S Pen even when it’s not touching the surface.

Samsung might have removed Bluetooth because it’s not widely used by most users. To compensate, the company could introduce upgrades like a thinner 1.5mm tip for better precision, improved durability, and a smoother sketching experience to make up for the missing feature. However, only time will tell us if the exchanges will make the Galaxy S25 Ultra a better product when it comes to its “Galaxy Note” functionalities.

The leaked images also show the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s updated design, featuring slightly rounded corners and flat sides, giving the phone a fresh and modern look.
