Samsung is preparing to launch a new tri-fold smartphone to rival Huawei’s Mate XT. The device will feature a unique folding design that protects the screen when the phone is folded. Samsung has confirmed the device’s development, and a recent report from Korea reveals when it will release.

Samsung’s Tri-Fold Smartphone: Launch Date Revealed

The tri-fold phone will likely arrive in the third quarter of the year, between July and September. This timing matches Samsung’s typical launch schedule for foldable devices. The company may unveil the tri-fold alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, both expected to launch in July.

Samsung plans to produce around 200,000 units of the tri-fold initially. Production will begin in the second quarter, between April and June. The tri-fold will feature a large 9.9 to 10-inch display when unfolded, offering users a more expansive screen than current foldable phones.

Along with the tri-fold, Samsung will release four foldable smartphones this year. The company will also launch the Galaxy Z Flip FE, an affordable option for consumers. Reports suggest the Galaxy Z Fold7 may lack a digitizer, which would make the device thinner. Samsung likely intends to make the Fold7 slimmer, as Chinese competitors like Honor have produced slimmer devices. For example, Honor’s Magic V3 is known for its sleek design.

While it’s unclear which chipset the tri-fold will use, rumors point to chips for other foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are expected to use the Exynos 2500 chipset. Samsung initially planned to use this chip in the Galaxy S25 series, but production issues delayed it. The Galaxy Z Flip FE will likely use the Exynos 2400e chipset, helping to reduce costs.

In conclusion, Samsung’s new tri-fold phone will shake up the foldable smartphone market. With its unique design, larger screen, and powerful performance, it will become an exciting addition to Samsung’s foldable lineup. Along with the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, Samsung will continue pushing the boundaries of foldable phones.
