Xiaomi YU7, Their Next Electric Vehicle, Has Specs Revealed By Regulator

Xiaomi’s second electric car, The Xiaomi YU7, is getting a lot of attention. While we had official photos before, details about its specs were scarce. Now, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has revealed its battery and range, putting it in direct competition with the Tesla Model Y.

Xiaomi YU7 Specifications Have Been Revealed

The YU7 is expected to launch in June or July this year, with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. The AWD model packs serious power, with a front motor producing 220 kW (295 hp) and a rear motor generating 288 kW (386 hp). It uses ternary lithium batteries and can reach a top speed of 253 km/h.

One of the most interesting details from the MIIT listing is the three different CLTC (China Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle) range estimates for the AWD model: 750 km, 760 km, and 670 km. The AWD version weighs 2,405 kg, but the weight of the RWD model is not available. The RWD version will have a rear motor producing up to 235 kW (315 hp). It will use lithium-iron phosphate batteries. The car’s top speed is 240 km/h.

The Xiaomi YU7 is 4.99 meters long, 1.99 meters wide, and 1.60 meters tall, with a 3.00-meter wheelbase. Spy photos suggest Xiaomi might release multiple versions, including Standard, Pro, and Max. Other leaks show a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. It hints that the YU7 will use Xiaomi’s in-house ADAS. Inside, spy shots reveal an ultra-wide screen in the cockpit.

The YU7 launch will likely follow the success of the Xiaomi SU7, which surpassed 20,000 deliveries for four straight months as of January. Xiaomi has also been expanding, opening 16 new stores last month, bringing its total to 216 stores in 64 Chinese cities.

As said above, the SU7 is a great success for Xiaomi. The company is collecting good results with it, like surpassing the Tesla Model 3 in China. The YU7 may further boost Xiaomi’s sales, helping the company reach its 2025 goal of delivering 300,000 vehicles. The starting price is estimated at RMB 250,000 (about €31,100).
