For a long time, WhatsApp users have been dreaming about the possibility of changing the colors of their messaging app. That gave birth to a multitude of WhatsApp Variants that added themes and other customization options. One popular option was WhatsApp Plus. For a long time, the official version and these variants co-existed, until the Meta team decided to start banning these variants and their users of them. Now, WhatsApp developers are finally giving a smile to users who enjoy customization and are bored of the app’s green appearance. The new update is finally giving users users more control of how their conversations look.
Blue WhatsApp Now Possible on the Original App
With the latest update, WhatsApp developers are giving users the chance to change the color of their apps. It’s interesting to see how Meta has been making the app more flexible in recent years with the latest updates. For instance, now it’s possible to have independent Desktop, WhatsApp, and Smartphone instances of the app. Soon, Meta will integrate WhatsApp status with Instagram and Facebook and more features are certainly coming.
WhatsApp’s new theming feature starts with a simple approach. Instead of complex themes as we saw in the days of WhatsApp Plus, we are getting color customization options. In any case, that’s a good start, and one that could bring more features in the future.
There are twenty color options on offer, which is way more than the promised five. Once you choose a color, it automatically becomes the default chat theme, and the wallpaper and bubble color are adjusted accordingly.
The new update also introduces 30 new wallpapers, and you can set a default theme for all conversations or customize each chat with a different theme, or background image. The feature is rolling out gradually and should be available for everyone within a few days.
Where can I find the function?
- Open WhatsApp
- Select Settings
- Open the Chats option
- Select the “Default Chat Theme” section
- Pick Your Favorite Color Option
- Done
WhatsApp has been working on this feature for a long time and has been constantly improving the features within individual chats. It was first teased in September last year. Now, the feature is finally reaching the Stable channel. We are curious to see future improvements as this will certainly be a feature that users will enjoy and use.
